Sweater Club 7

Even though what I offer customers is the elements to craft their own clothing, I've always considered what I do is essentially creating sustainable fashion. We all express ourselves (in terms of style, mood, or attitude) through the clothes we wear. My aim is always to create classic, clean, and sophisticated fashion options, allowing each crafter to enhance his or her own self-expression as they evolve over time.

This 100% Julie Hoover pairing of sweaters and yarn is a true embodiment of that aim.

The work on this Sweater Club began around this time last year, during a conversation with my dear friends at mYak Tibetan Fibers. They wondered if I would be interested in developing a custom color for their 100% baby yak medium yarn. Of course, I was interested—and if they wanted one unique color, why not two? (That yarn became the Sille Wrap and Cowl project kit.)

At one point, the conversation turned to something I had been wanting to ask them; might they allow me an opportunity to source some of their cashmere and yak fiber for my own yarn endeavor? To my delight, they enthusiastically agreed, and then the fun began. (Longer version of the story here.)

The past year was a real test of my patience, slowing down a process that is already intentionally slow to get things absolutely right in the middle of a pandemic, and 2021 passed by without a Sweater Club launch. It was so close! But because of that, it made sense to begin naming Sweater Club with a sequential number rather than a calendar year. It's not the first time that Sweater Club has evolved. I'm constantly listening to feedback and trying (from varying the price points to increasing the sizing available) to be as inclusive as possible. This year is no exception.

So, here we are, number seven!

It's launch day, and I'm introducing two new sweaters and my brand-new yarn. I couldn't be happier, and I'm genuinely grateful. I hope my work inspires you to create something special for yourself or a loved one. I package every kit myself, so you know when it arrives, it has been sent with my very best wishes.
