Julie Hoover + Shibui Knits Partnership

A spontaneous conversation began over lunch one day in late September 2018 around what might be possible in terms of a collaboration between myself and Shibui Knits. Having published several patterns showcasing their yarns over the past decade, I was keen to put a different spin on this collaboration. One particular idea I threw up in the air landed right where I hoped it would—an opportunity to not only design a collection with yarns I have grown to love but to develop the color of the yarns, as well. Within days, I narrowed it down to three possible colors, and Shibui Knits decided all three of them were worth producing. (I may have danced around squealing a little when I heard.) The next part was deciding which bases to focus on. Pebble, Twig, and Silk Cloud were my immediate picks. Nest was in development, so I added that to the list. And the final must-have put into the mix (months later) was Tweed Silk Cloud.

By December lab dips were approved and color runs from the mills started arriving a couple months later. The remainder of 2019 was spent working on a collection of patterns to showcase the yarns. (I know you are wondering!) I’m afraid I have to keep you in suspense a little longer about that part but allow me to introduce the three limited-edition Julie Hoover colors.

All three fashion-forward colors are worthy of your hand-knitted wardrobe and will be available for a limited time, while stock remains throughout 2020.

Boxes are being delivered to your local Shibui Knits stockist now, and the entire collection of patterns and yarn will be available everywhere (including my online shop) on January 16th.

Until then, be sure to follow my Instagram (@juliehoover_design) for some pattern teasers.

I can’t wait to show you more!
